Benson defends Democratic vision in lead-up to expected run for governor
Michigan’s top democracy defender is defending the Democratic Party
It’s no secret Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is considering running for governor.
Benson, who lives in Detroit, told Tim Skubik exactly that earlier this month on Off the Record. She’s currently on a statewide tour to convince residents that Democrats are the party that has their back.
Party insiders tell me she wants to replace term-limited Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2026, and if she does, they believe she’ll outspend the Democratic competition.
