Embattled Wayne County Sheriff posted video of naked woman on Facebook
A spokesperson for Wayne County Sheriff’s Office says Washington didn't know the video appeared on his Facebook page last year.
Separate from a lawsuit filed this week, which claims five women were sexually harassed by Wayne County Sheriff Raphael Washington, a spokesperson for his office says the sheriff did not know a video showing a naked woman was shared to his Facebook story last year.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday reports at least five women have accused Washington of sexual misconduct between 2002 and 2023. The explicit video, posted in June 2024 to Washington’s Facebook page, shows a naked woman dancing briefly before getting up and placing her bra strap over her shoulder.
“The sheriff says he did not post this, did not know this was ever on his page and does not know who this is,” Wayne County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Mara MacDonald said Wednesday.
A Facebook story is visible for 24 hours, but the video Washington posted was quickly deleted.
The screen recording provided to the Sheriff’s office shows Washington’s name and profile image in the top left corner. The eight-second video appears to be filmed by someone under bed sheets in a hotel room. The woman’s face is not distinguishable. A television is visible in the background playing a courtroom show. The clip was posted with Motown singer Kem’s “The Best is Yet to Come” set as the audio.
