The Triumph Church pastor rolled out his candidacy for mayor at Fox Theatre Wednesday, hosting the largest campaign announcement event of any candidate so far. About 3,000 people came downtown to support him. His church touts 40,000 members throughout seven different locations across Metro Detroit.
Kinloch said as mayor he would continue to build on progress made over the last decade while confronting the ongoing disparities that lead to tragedies like the recent deaths of two children in a casino parking lot.
A three minute campaign video detailing his call to faith and service to the city highlighted ambitious plans, including 10,000 affordable housing units, creating 100,000 new jobs, while 10 new strategically placed grocery stores would “end Detroit’s food desert forever.”
